4th of July - 07/04/2009

As the culmination of the efforts in America's war for independence from Britain, the Fourth of July, 1776 was the date that the United States Declaration of Independence was signed. Such notable figures instrumental in the unification of the 13 colonies succeeding from British monarchic rule were Thomas Jefferson who wrote the Declaration of Independence, Ben Franklin, General (and later first President of the United States) George Washington, and John Adams.

To this day, the Fourth of July is celebrated with colorful fireworks, parades, and streets and public buildings strung with red, white, and blue banners on a civic level. The Fourth of July is also celebrated by families with picnics, family reunions, and informal barbeques. The highlight of the day, though, whether you're into more public partying or hanging with close friends and family, large displays of fireworks and even sparklers on the lawn have always been a big part of the Fourth of July.
