How to make a Rumpelstiltskin (Shrek: Forever After) costume
Rumpelstiltskin is the creepy little man who sets the events of Shrek: Forever After into motion. Originally hired by Princess Fiona‘s parents to help break her curse, the little man turns back time and resets the events of the past three movies. Shrek is on the run and no one’s living Happily Ever After in the kingdom of Far Far Away. Here’s how to make a Rumpelstiltskin costume of your own and become the tricky fairy tale character villain of the film:
##Things You’ll Need##
* White leggings or white nylon socks
* White sweatpants OR knee breeches
* Gold lame ribbon (from craft store)
* Fabric glue
* White waistcoat
* Brown eye pencil
##Putting together your Rumpelstiltskin (Shrek: Forever After) costume##
** Step 1:** Pick up a Don King wig in a wild, piled-high style.
Step 2: Spray your wig with bright orange spray-in hair color. The spray will turn it bright Rumplestiltskin red and give some extra lift to your wig’s hair style!
Step 3: Use your brown eye pencil to draw on curled eyebrows in a “shady” style, reflecting ol’ Rumpy’s scheming expression.
Step 4: Put on a pair of white leggings or nylon socks.
Step 5: If you can’t find a pair of white knee breeches, you can easily make a pair from white sweatpants. Just hike up the bottoms to below your knee. Follow Step 6 to learn how to make them more Far Far Away-fabulous!
Step 6: Head to a local craft store and pick up several yards of gold lame’ ribbon. Use fabric glue to adhere a length of ribbon around the bottom elastic of your sweatpants and tie it in a “ribbon” to decorate them. You can also cut more ribbon to make a pattern on your new “knee breeches” extending from your waistband to the hem at your knees.
Step 7: Put on a t-shirt (or white shirt, if you want) and a white vest over it.
Step 8: Put on a waistcoat in white. You can make it coordinate with your knee britches by adding a bit of gold ribbon to the cuffs and lapels with your fabric glue to make things match.
Step 9: Add a red scarf around your neck.
Step 10: Put on a pair of curled jester boots to complete your look! Ogres, beware!
